PORT ISAAC VISIT
Having spent an enjoyable time exploring the picturesque village of Port Isaac (made famous by the TV series Doc Martin), my family and I walked along the coastal path and were met with this view.
The dramatic north Cornish coastline curving away in the distance, the inlet and rocks of Port Gaverne and the Headlands Hotel on the right, with a foreground of grasses and the vibrant orange Montbretia.
THE PAINTING
Painted in acrylics on watercolour paper, I started in my usual manner with a pencil sketch, followed by underpainting, building up layers of semi-transparent colour, then adding further foreground texture with a palette knife.
