Glen R Smith

I’m Glen Smith, a self-taught artist and trained graphic designer with multiple commissioned art works over the twenty years I’ve been painting. My inspiration has always been drawn from the natural landscape - the wide open spaces, coastal views, river estuaries and moorland scenes. Initially, I was inspired by the landscapes of Sussex and Devon; more recently, the Venetian city and seascapes have been a powerful influence.

The locations in my work often hold strong personal resonance and my art has been praised for its detail, distinctive style and use of colour all of which lend visual excitement. Many of the works have a strong photographic quality, as you can see. My collection includes sketches, water colours and my preferred medium, acrylic paints. When working, I use a number of techniques to gain the desired effect including washes and palette knife to add texture.

I was born in mid-Sussex and I currently live near Chichester with my wife and two children. If you’d like to call or email me to talk about a place that has special significance to you and to discuss a commission, I’ll be happy to hear from you. If you’d prefer to order one of my existing pieces of work, you can do that too.
